When the Going Gets Tough

At the beginning of 2025, God gave me clarity: I was able to see how the enemy had been operating in my life up until that point. I realized that some things I learned over the years were not God’s wisdom but warped advice from the world. I started to wonder what kind of person I would be if the enemy didn’t attack at an early age. I started to think of the fearless, confident and bold woman I’ve always wanted to be but for some reason, struggled to become.

As a result, I have been more open to the transformation God has for me. Now, it has not been without the sporadic temper tantrums (lol). I’ve learned that while we are happy and ecstatic of words that prophesy about us about walking into our new; we don’t realize that sometimes that new comes with growing pains.

Growing pains are uncomfortable and stretching. Years ago, God revealed that I had a bad habit of running from uncomfortable things. After grieving the opportunities I may have missed because of that, I became determined to change my way of thinking. Instead of shrinking, I decided to be more tenacious for the woman I feel God created me to be.

One step towards this is to embrace failure as a part of the learning process. One mistake does not have to be the end to a dream or a goal, but it is a learning lesson of what not to do next time. Thomas Edison is famous for saying that instead of viewing his plethora of mishaps with the lightbulb as failures, they were simply information of how they didn’t work. And that’s how we must view our mistakes.

The enemy wants nothing more than for us to stop growing into who God called us to be. As I write this post, I’m reminded of Ruth. She left her homeland – a place she was familiar with – to live as a Hebrew woman. She probably experienced culture shock. There were things the Israelites probably said that she didn’t quite understand, but regardless of the triumphs or the tribulations, Ruth stayed true to God and her mother-in-law.

If you are like me and want to be perfect at everything or are scared to make the change you need, know that you are not alone. However, God is not a God of stagnancy. He is a God of growth and elevation and we cannot reach and become all God has for us if we don’t embrace those uncomfortable moments and situations.

Therefore, my lovelies, let us spread our wings and fly to the highest heights God has for us.
