Be Weary of Thoughts
“There has been an increasing acceptance of intrusive thoughts overtaking us. We laugh at them. We post them. We comment about them. However, 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV) says: “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” which means we must give our intrusive thoughts to the Lord, repent and replace wicked thoughts with the Word of God. We must allow God to cleanse us and purify us, including our thoughts.”
Plan for the end
“Lately, I have become more intrigued with techniques of how to be productive, effective and so on. I started reading Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and in his book, one of the habits he lists is to begin with the end in mind. Coincidently, I was reading Colossians at the same time I was reading about the habit, beginning with the end in mind. Colossians 3:2-3 (NLT) says: “Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” Furthermore, 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT) says: ‘So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.’”
God has boundaries
“Boundaries. It is a concept, as a society, we have fallen in love with. We urge others to set boundaries with family members, friends, coworkers, etc. Not only are we establishing boundaries, but we are establishing consequences if boundaries are crossed. (As we should.) However, I am puzzled with how we strongly affirm our boundaries, but we disregard God’s.”
This Means War
The Word says: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” That means he’s always plotting and scheming of ways to destroy our purpose, kill our dreams and incapacitate us. It isn’t always as noticeable as we like to think; sometimes, the attack is subtle. It comes as sickness, distractions from people and snide comments we may hear. We must stay on guard spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally because these are all areas the enemy attacks. That means we must care for our entire being.
Your Flesh and the Enemy are Best Friends
Ever wonder why God instructs us to kill our flesh daily? It’s because your flesh and the enemy are best friends. Your flesh craves and desires a multitude of things that bring temporary pleasure in the moment but causes destruction in the end. Despite whatever sin, iniquity and/or transgression you are battling, my God is a BIG God and He can deliver you from it all. I pray after reading this post, it encourages you to be more conscientious in your relationship with the Lord and you become more fervent in severing your flesh’s relationship with the enemy.
The Devil Is The Real Opp
For as long as I can remember, the culture has been focused on haters. We become so obsessed with showing up the people who don’t like us and not letting them get the best of us that we are blind to the fact that we are doing exactly what our biggest opp – the enemy – wants us to do. The enemy wants to cause destruction in all facets of your life – from relationships, friendships, career and more. Don’t let him win because when God is on your side, even the biggest, worst opp can’t harm you.
Every Day Should Be Like Sunday
Before, when I would hear that “Every day should be like Sunday,” I would be flabbergasted. However, as I’ve grown in God, I learned that what God means is He wants His character to flow through you every day. He wants to be a part of every part of your life. Today’s encouragement is to find ways you can make your everyday life be more like Sunday.
Prayer Changes Things
I came across a post the other day that reminded me of the scripture Matthew 7:11, which says, “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” As I began to meditate on the scripture, I began to think about my earthly parents and the gifts they have given over the years. Afterwards, I began to see how God has answered my prayers throughout the years and how much better His gifts are. Regardless of your relationship with your earthly parents, we all have the same spiritual one and He wants to bless you more abundantly.
You are an influencer
When I first started to get serious about my walk with Christ, I became obsessed with discovering my purpose in life. A little while later, during one of my Bible studies, I came across a commentary in my Bible that said our purpose is to live for God. Mind BLOWN. It was the simplest concept, but it connected with me on a deeper level. Our jobs aren’t just what we do in this natural world; our first and most important job is to be an ambassador or an influencer for Christ.
All I Need Is You
The world tells us that we need money, cars, jewelry and loads of other material possessions, but as I get closer to God, I discover that all I or we really need is Him.
I Got 5 On It
The Bible says, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of you heart will also be” (Matthew 6:21, NLT). Paying tithes demonstrates where one’s heart is. It answers the question: “Will you give God your best and your first or will you give Him your last scrap?” Moreover, tithing is a way of worshipping God.
Guard Your Heart
God has been dealing with me on the type of content I like to indulge in. As long as I can remember, I have been a fan of content that includes magic, witches, werewolves and other fantasy content. However, God has been convicting me about ingesting this content because it goes against His Word. Therefore, I am repenting and denouncing my attachment with such content.
Faith Also Comes By Reading
You’ve probably heard pastors advise to read the Word. However, when you go to read it, it’s written in a language you don’t understand and it may seem boring. However, I’ve discovered that there is a reason pastors advise you to read the Bible. It showcases God’s love for us. If you don’t understand the KJV, buy another version that can help you understand more because faith also comes by reading.
When I Pray
I’ve witnessed people expressing their concerns about how to pray. Praying is nothing but having a conversation with the God who created you and who knows you better than you know yourself. You don’t need big words or fancy gestures, just start up a conversation. I promise He is always listening and is always available.
Walk By Faith
Over the years, I have noticed an increase in the belief in manifestation and the universe. However, as I got deeper in my faith, I realized the error in believing in these things is that it takes away from God's power. God created the universe, so why should we look to the universe to handle our problems when there is a much higher being and authority over the universe? Instead, what we should do is ask God for what we need and want and have FAITH that what we pray for will come to pass. We should begin walking by faith, whether that's writing down, drawing or continuously speaking your vision, but having knowledge that this will be made possible by God.
What A [Twisted] World
The enemy's mission is to kill, steal and destroy, which he accomplishes by belittling God, turning our attention to other things and other tactics. An example of this is by the use of horoscopes, numerology, palm readings and more. We rely on horoscopes and other sources to tell us what kind of person we are, how our day is going to go, etc. without realizing that by doing this we are telling God that we don't trust Him and we are putting our trust in something else. Make a conscientious decision to make God your ONLY God.
God Is Not Man
As humans, we sometimes do things that we are ashamed of. We can be so ashamed that we are ashamed to admit it to God or feel that God will not forgive us for that sin. I had to be reminded that God is not man. He is really forgiving and will cast your sins into a sea of forgetfulness if you bring it to Him and truly repent.
Welcome to the Real World
Pastors are always speaking about how this room or world is a dressing room. The more I think about the brevity of life, the more I realize how pastors are right. We really are only here for a few years compared to the forever we will spend in the afterlife. The question, then, becomes: Where do you want to spend eternity?
Teach Me How To Love
Being a Christian means having your own personal relationship with God. However, you maybe wondering HOW?! Read more about the steps you can take to develop a deeper relationship with God.
I ain’t got nothin’ but love for ya
The world can be enticing. Being able to fit in with others usually doesn't include God. Some Christians try to have their cake and eat it too. From Sunday evening - Saturday, their lives are in opposite of what they reflect on Sunday Morning. I realized that it's not just important to love God on Sunday morning, but everyday.
